Okay, I'm nervous. It's a good thing.
This time next week, I'll announce a Kickstarter campaign for the new album. I'd really love any input into stuff (music, merch, interaction etc) you'd like to be part of that. I love when we dream it up together.
Meanwhile, some thoughts bouncin around my brain:
I wasn't thinkin I was gonna do any more one-off crowdfunding campaigns. I started & stopped one last year, and decided to focus on a more sustainable, ongoing relationship with anyone who likes the music. I still see IDEAS as the best and most fun way to keep making music & more for/with a small community of people. If you're not part of it yet, please please please click here to check it out, and if you want to, join up at whatever level feels right.
That said, when I look back on my musical life, as much as I've loved all the homemade stuff, some of my very favorite music has been made in bands or other serious collaboration, and that collaboration usually involved multiple people and fancy gear/studios that I can't really afford. I'll make and release music forever out of my house (as long as it's fun), and in many ways it's the center of my heart... and I still have occasional hifi yearnings. To make those dreams real this time, I'll be working with Jeremy Tappero, who was in New End and Gratitude with me. He also played on tons of onelinedrawing tours. He's a dear friend, a great musician, and he's become a pretty amazing producer too. He's put in a lot of money & hard work to building his own studio. We'll also be bringing in lotsa amazing musicians/people from past bands and various worlds. I want to make sure Jeremy and everyone else gets paid, esp these days when so many of us are struggling some to stay afloat as artists/people.
So, this will be for that. Sound good? I'm excited. I'd love to have oyu in on it, and I'd love yr help spreading the word. Whether you take part in it or not, whether you join IDEAS or not... again, any & all thoughts welcome & wanted.
Okay, back to album-dreaming. Look fwd to talkin with you this week, and makin the big announcement a week from today. Yay!
